Cairo, January 20 (QNA) - Qatar national handball team will meet its Danish counterpart Thursday in its first match in the main round competitions in the 27th IHF Men's World Championship, which is currently being held in Egypt and will continue until Jan 31.
The Qatari national team qualified after finishing second in Group C in the first round, where they had two wins over Angola 30-25, Japan 31-29 against one loss to Croatia 24-26, while Denmark in Group D had three victories against Bahrain 20-34, DR Congo 39-19, and Argentina 31-20.
The Qatari team looks forward to achieving surprise at the expense of the Danish team, a 2019 title holder and a strong candidate to win the title of the current competition, especially after the good performance made by the Qatari team in their match Tuesday against Croatian counterpart which lost with great difficulty despite the absence of a number of their basic elements, which confirms their ability to keep up with the European teams and outperform them.

The two teams ranked first and second in each group, qualify for the quarterfinals at the start of the elimination rounds in the tournament.

Qatar finished the 2015 World Championship in second place which was the best result in the history of its participation. (QNA)
