Qatar to Host Padel World Championships in November

Doha, March 10 (QNA) - Secretary-General of the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation Tareq Zainal announced Tuesday that the State of Qatar will organize the Padel World Championship in Doha from Nov. 15 to Nov. 20 for the first time in the Middle-East. Speaking on the sidelines of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open for tennis, he said that Padel has begun to see strong interest locally and has grown to be hugely popular. He said that Padel courts will be prepared inside Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex for the event. On the federation's organization of Qatar ExxonMobil Open, he said that they coordinated with the ATP and the WTA to hold the competition while adhering to the precautionary measures in place to contain the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). He expressed regret that many fans missed out on the opportunity to attend the tennis matches, due to the 20 percent cap enforced on attendance. He added that the federation is fully committed to implementing the precautionary measures when it comes to the attendance of fans. (QNA)
