Qatar National Sports Day: QOC to Conduct Ministries Football League

Doha, February 11 (QNA) - Qatar Olympic Committee's (QOC) National Sports Day (QNSD) celebrations will start from Sunday with Ministries Football League matches commencing at the Al Markhiya Club from 8pm onwards. The League matches will continue on February 13 and 14. The QOC will also organise a sports march at the Corniche on Wednesday 9am onwards. Its general sports activities will be held at the Sports Arena opposite Qatar General Post Office on Wednesday 8am onwards. The Qatar Tourism Authority will conduct football, volleyball and 100 meters race at the Doha Exhibition Centre yard on Wednesday 9am onwards. The Qatar General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority will hold its QNSD sports events at Qatar Sports Club on Wednesday 9am onwards. It will also host a symposium on 'Better Life' at its headquarters 10 am onwards. Qatar Railways Company will celebrate the QNSD by organizing events in collaboration with the Supreme Council of Health (SCH). Qatar Rail's programme aims to empower people of all ages to become more physically active and provide them with opportunities for recreation and positive social interaction. It includes many sporting activities for employees, such as athletic competitions, fitness exercises and mental sports games, among others. Commenting on the significance of QNSD, a senior Qatar Rail official said, "We aim at achieving several objectives to encourage an active and healthy lifestyle on the national level by encouraging citizens to participate in the activities. This sports culture will guide employees to value the equation of balanced nutrition and fitness." (QNA)
