Qatar Team Participate in 2021 Asian Senior Beach Volleyball Championships
Doha, November 23 (QNA) - Qatar's beach volleyball team consists of Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan (Qatar 1) and Mahmoud Essam and Saif Al Mageed (Qatar 2) will participate Tuesday, in the 2021 Asian Senior Beach Volleyball Championships till Nov. 27 in Phuket city of Thailand with the participation of 9 countries for men's competitions and 8 countries for women's competitions.
The Asian Championship draw has placed Qatar (1) at the top of Group B which includes Kazakhstan (2) and Thailand (4), while Qatar (2) is in Group H alongside Japan (3).
Qatar team (1) is scheduled to face its Thai counterpart (4), who plays in the second group, on Tuesday.
Qatar's beach volleyball team of Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan maintains the top of world standing after the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) released the latest ranking.
The Qatari team had won the Asian Championship twice in a row for the years 2018 in Thailand and 2019 in China, in addition to winning the first gold medal in beach volleyball at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia.
The Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) expects the Qatari team to face strong competition from the Australian team, consisting of the duo Christopher McHugh and Paul Burnett, who won the title in 2012, 2014 (China) and 2016 (Australia), in addition to the Iranian team, which won the title in 2017 in Thailand.
