Qatar-USA 2021 Year of Culture Logo Unveiled

Doha, December 17 (QNA) - Qatar Museums and the Embassy of the United States of America in the country unveiled the Qatar-USA 2021 Year of Culture Logo on the sidelines of the first activities of the Cultural Year, which is the friendly match that brought together the Washington Spirit women's soccer team and the Qatar National Women's Football Team that was held on one of the stadiums designated for training for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The visit of the Washington Spirit women's soccer team, organized by the Embassy of the State of Qatar in the United States of America in cooperation with Qatar Museums and the Embassy of the United States of America to the Qatar, and sponsored by Qatar Airways and ExxonMobil Qatar, is part of the cultural exchange that precedes the "Qatar-USA 2021 Year of Culture Logo", which reflects a long history of partnership and cultural participation between Qatar and the United States.
HE Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Qatar Museums Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani said on this occasion: "So excited to share the logo for the #QatarUSA2021 Year of Culture, which celebrates the strong relationship between both countries".
Her Excellency added: "Looking forward to a year full of amazing events and partnerships between our nations. Stay tuned for more information about the upcoming cultural events, ideas, competitions and much more!"
For his part, HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the United States of America Sheikh Meshal bin Hamad Al-Thani, during a speech via video conference technology ahead of the friendly match yesterday, said that the Washington Spirit team is an example for girls in Qatar. The United States recognized the capabilities of women in various fields, and for this they were invited to Qatar as the first educational exchange group for the Qatar-USA 2021 Year of Culture Logo with the approaching date of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
For her part, the Charge d'Affairs of the United States of America to the State of Qatar Greta C. Holtz said that the visit of the Washington Spirit football team to Doha for a week and at the beginning of the cultural exchange demonstrates the commitment of the United States and Qatar to support and empower women in the field of sports, stressing that the cultural year is an interesting celebration of both cultures.
Holtz expressed her aspiration for the wonderful events that will highlight shared values, and enhance cultural appreciation, understanding and the critical strategic partnership between the two countries.
For his part, HE Ambassador of the French Republic to the State of Qatar Franck Gellet, during his speech through video conference technology, reviewed the most important activities that were held during the Year of Culture Qatar France 2020, stressing that they were positive and strengthened cultural cooperation between the two countries.
His Excellency expressed his wishes for success for the new cultural year Qatar - USA 2021.
The President of Community Development, Machaille Hassan Al Naimi, said that Qatar Foundation has long supported the Qatar Museums Year of Culture Program, which plays a pivotal and influential role in building intercultural ties and strengthening relations between the State of Qatar and the rest of the world.
Al Naimi added that Qatar Foundation has a firm belief that the exchange of knowledge and cultural experiences provides new pathways for understanding at the global level, and Qatar Foundation has close and valuable relationships with the United States, including the long-standing partnerships with some of the country's leading universities.
Al Naimi pointed out that she is pleased to participate in the launch of the Qatar-USA 2021 Year of Culture by welcoming the Washington Spirit women's soccer team, and Qatar Foundation is looking forward to support this initiative through a range of activities and programs in the coming year.
The Secretary-General of the Qatar Football Association Mansoor Al Ansari, also delivered a speech in which he praised the close cooperation witnessed by the Qatari-American relations at all levels, especially sports, and noted the participation of the first Qatari team in the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup in America.
The Washington Spirit women's soccer team will discover about the most important tourist and cultural attractions in the country during this visit. (QNA)
