Qatar Women Clinch First Place in Team Pistol Event

Sharjah, February 12 (QNA) - Qatar's markswomen performed impressively to win the first position in the team pistol event of the Arab Women Sports Tournament hosted at the Sharjah Ladies Club in United Arab Emirates (UAE). In the final day's events, Qatar shooters made were in top form and on target to win the first place in 10 meter Team Pistol event 10. Hosts UAE finished second and Kuwaiti ladies finished third. In 10 meter Individual Pistol event, Qatar's shooters clinched the second and third places behind India's Showita who won the first place. Qatar's Suaad Al Khater was name as the best markswomen in the event. Sportswomen from 12 countries, including the hosts UAE, took part in the inaugural multi discipline Arab Women's Sports Tournament, organised under the patronage of HH Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, the wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, the Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, and the Chairperson of the Sharjah Ladies Club. The tournament included teams from Al Jazira women's basketball club from Egypt, Akad Basketball Sports Club, volleyball and shooting clubs from Iraq, Al Mohafaza women athletics club, Korat Al Jazira women's table tennis club, Al Wahda women's basketball club and Syria's Sheba Shooting Club. Palestine was represented by the Jerusalem Volleyball Club. Qatar fielded teams through the Qatar Women's Club in basketball, athletics, shooting and table tennis. Kuwait was represented by Salwa Al Sabah Sports Club in volleyball and athletics, Al Fatat sports club in basketball and table tennis, and Kuwait Club in shooting. Bahrain was represented by Bahrain volleyball Club, Al Mahrrouq Table Tennis Club, the Bahrain Shooting Club and Al Rifaah Athletics Club. (QNA)
