Qatari Forum for Authors Celebrates World Short Story Day

Doha, February 15 (QNA) - The Qatari Forum for Authors celebrated the World Short Story Day which falls on the fourteenth of February each year was interspersed with story readings by a number of writers, and its facts were broadcast through the forums account on the YouTube channel, with a cultural evening in which a number of short story writers participated. Director General of the Forum Maryam Yassin Al Hammadi who is also Director of the Culture and Arts Department at the Ministry of Culture said in a speech on the occasion that literature is the true heritage of peoples, whether through poetry or literary writing in all its forms, noting that writing reflects customs, traditions and heritage. She stressed that Arab societies are in need of cultural efforts more than any time before due to globalization and global conditions that require passing on values, feelings and messages through writing, which makes the role of the writer and the intellectual no less important than any influential factor, given his great ability to positive change. . The participants in the cultural evening presented narrative readings of what they broadcast in their publications. In this regard, journalist and writer Ahmed Ali Al Hammadi read excerpts from his story entitled "The Captive of Conscience", while writer Ibtisam Ismail read a group of very short stories. Writer Andalus Ibrahim read before the audience, her story directed to children and entitled: / What if the school disappeared /. Meanwhile, Dr. Khaled Abdul-Jabbar shared an excerpt from a story from the "Vision Group" entitled: "Birth Night". Dr. Sefin Saad participated with a short story under the title: "The Queue of Dreams", while writer Mukhtar Khawaja read an excerpt from a short story, followed by writer Masoud Ahmed Khalaf, who read part of his short story collection entitled "Intellectual's Bargaining" .
