The tournament is held under the umbrella of the Gulf Organizing Committee for Golf for the teams and individual categories at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club courses for 4 days for national teams and 3 days for youth groups, followed by the closing and coronation ceremony.
The Qatari delegation, headed by Secretary General of the Golf Federation and member of the Organizing Committee Fahd bin Nasser Al Nuaimi, includes for the "adult" category, Ali Abdullah Al Shahrani, Saleh Ali Al Kaabi, Jaham Jassim Al Kuwari, and Abdul Rahman Abdullah Al Shahrani, the "Youth" category is represented by HE Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Ali Saud Al-Thani and Hamad Nidal Asaad.
In a statement today, Fahad Al Nuaimi said that the GCC golf championship is one of the strongest and most prestigious golf tournaments in the region, where distinguished players and the finest Gulf golf teams compete for the title.
He added that the competition will be strong against the Gulf golf teams, especially between us and the Saudi and Bahraini teams, explaining that the Qatari team will play with determination to represent the State of Qatar in this Gulf event.
Al Nuaimi expressed his hope that the golf players will achieve the desired goals of participating and ascending the podiums, and despite the COVID-19 crisis, the first Qatari team will be a strong competitor to win medals, especially since the team's performance was distinguished during the last quarter of last year where Qatari golfer Saleh Ali Al Kaabi won the individual silver medal in the Arab Golf Championship held last December in the Arab Republic of Egypt, and Ali Al Shahrani achieved second place in the Saudi Open Golf Championship, which was held early last December in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The players of the Qatari golf team also succeeded in achieving the first three places in the Oman Open Golf Championship last November, after the championship title was won by Saleh Ali Al Kaabi, while Ali Abdullah Al Shahrani came in the second place and Abdul Rahman Abdullah Al Shahrani came in third place.
