Qatar's Al Attiyah is One Step Away of Winning the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge and the World Cup Titles

Abu Dhabi, November 11 (QNA) - Qatari driver Nasser bin Saleh Al Attiyah is on the cusp of winning the 30th edition of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, the fifth and penultimate stage of the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies for the year 2021, after winning the fourth special stage title.
Al Attiyah, with his French navigator, Mathieu Baumel, in a Toyota Hilux, completed the stage with a total distance of 251 km, with a time of 3.16.16 hours, 2.15 minutes behind his nearest Polish competitor, Jakob Przygonski, in a Toyota Hilux second place winner, with a time of 3.18.31 hours, while the Russian driver Denis Krutov, in a John Cooper Works Buggy, came third with a time of 3.32.20 hours.
By the end of the fourth stage competitions, Al Attiyah consolidated his lead in the provisional general ranking with a total time of 15.09.08 hours, 23.48 minutes ahead of his nearest competitor, Argentinian Alvarez, who advanced to second place with a total time of 15.32.56 hours, while Russian Denis Krutov advanced to third place with a total time of 16.20.44 hours.
Al Attiyah expressed his happiness for winning the fourth stage title and widening the difference in the overall standings of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge from his nearest competitor, considering that he is one step away from winning the title.
He pointed out that his victory in the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge will also decide the early crowning of the World Cup for Cross Country Rally Championship for the year 2021, before entering the sixth and final stage competitions in Saudi Arabia. (QNA)
