QBF Holds Men's Basketball Cup Draw

Doha, September 30 (QNA) - Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) held on Wednesday at Qatar Basketball Federation headquarters in Al Gharafa, the draw of the 2020/2021 Men's Basketball Cup which will be held from October 16 to November 6 with participation of nine teams. Al Gharafa, Al Ahli, Al Sadd, Al Khor, and Al Rayyan came in the second group which includes five teams while Qatar, Al Wakra, Al Arabi, and Al Shamal teams came in the first group. Al Gharafa holds the title of the last edition of the Qatar Cup after defeating Al Shamal 86-77 in the final match. The tournament will be held in a league system of one round between the teams of each group and the first and second of each group will advance to the semi-finals which will play in the knockout system and the winners will advance to the final match. All matches will be held in Al Gharafa Club hall with execution of the followed precautionary measures to limit the spread of the Corona virus (Covid-19) as the mass attendance will be allowed by 50 percent with the need to adhere to vaccination. On the other hand the Qatar Basketball Federation has set the date for the start of the first division league for the new season which will start on November 13 with the participation of nine clubs: Al Rayyan, Al Gharafa, Al Sadd, Al Arabi, Qatar, Al Khor, Al Shamal, Al Wakra and Al Ahli. The Federation also decided to hold the HH the Amir Cup in March and to be ended before the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. (QNA)
