QFA Announces HH the Amir Cup Round of 16 Schedule

Doha, January 21 (QNA) - Qatar Football Association (QFA) has announced the schedule of matches for the round of 16 of the HH the Amir Football Cup in its 50th edition for the 2021/22 sports season.
The eight matches will be held over three days from Jan. 25 to Jan. 27, with three matches on the first and second days, and the competitions will finish on the third day with two matches.
QFA confirmed that penalty kicks will be resorted to determine the qualifiers for the quarter-finals incase of draw in original and extra times.
On Jan. 25, Qatar SC will play with Al Shamal at Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium at 4:15 pm, followed by Al Wakrah and Al Kharaitiyat match at the same stadium at 7:15 pm. Al Duhail will face Al Ahli at 7:15 at Al Arabi Stadium.
Three matches will be held on Jan. 26, where Al Rayyan will face Al Markhiya at 4:15 pm at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium. At 7:15 pm, the title-holder Al Sadd will play with Muaither. Al Gharafa will face Al Shahaniya at 7:15 at Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium in Al Ahli Club.
The draw was held on Wednesday, according to the format of the tournament authorized by the QFA since the 48th version of the 2019/2020 sports season, where all teams will start the competition in the Round of 16, with the participation of 16 clubs from the first and second divisions.
According to the draw rules, the 16 teams were ranked according to their positions in the QNB Stars League (QSL) and the Second Division League (SDL) last season.
The top eight teams from the QSL: Al Sadd, Al Duhail, Al Rayyan, Al Gharafa, Al Ahli, Qatar SC, Al Arabi and Al Wakrah, were placed in the first pool.
The second pool consisted of the remaining teams in the QSL, from positions 9-12: Al Sailiya, Umm Salal, Al Khor and Al Kharaitiyat, along with the top three teams from the SDL: Al Shamal, Al Shahania and Muaither, and also Al Markhiya, who qualified from the preliminary phase after defeating Mesaimeer in the clash between the fourth and fifth-placed teams from the SDL.
Al Sadd holds the title of the final version of HH the Amir Cup, after defeating Al Rayyan on penalties at Al Thumama Stadium. Al Sadd is also the most crowned champion with 18 titles. (QNA)
