QGF Ready to Host 9th Senior Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships
Doha, June 06 (QNA) - The Qatar Gymnastics Federation (QGF) is gearing up to host the 9th Senior Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships, which will be held from June 15-18 at the Aspire Dome in Doha.
As many as 137 male and female gymnasts representing 21 countries will be eyeing titles during the event organized by QGF, which has hosted major gymnastics competitions over the years and hopes to make the competition a huge success.
In a statement, QGF president Ali Al Hitmi said that the preparations for the event are on track and QGF is looking forward to welcoming athletes to Doha which has unparalleled sports infrastructure and has been home to many major events including the 2018 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, QGF with full support from various parties including the Qatar Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Sports and Youth is confident of organizing the Asian Championship successfully.
Al Hitmi said that delegations of Hong Kong and Kazakhstan were the first to arrive a few days ago, and all things are going according to plan to deliver a blockbuster edition of the continental championship.
The Doha edition is expected to be one of the strongest Asian Championships ever in presence of the continents leading gymnasts including several world champions. The event will see the participation of a huge number of gymnasts from all over Asia, the QGF president added.
Al Hitmi, meanwhile, hoped Qatari gymnasts will give the best performance in the competition, saying that the Qatari team has prepared well, and the gymnasts have undergone a series of preparations including their participation in domestic and international events. (QNA)
