Rally of Morocco: Qatar's Al Attiyah Wins Second Stage

Rabat, October 11 (QNA) - Qatar's rally star Nasser Al Attiyah won the second stage of the Rally of Morocco, the fourth round of the 2021 world cup for cross country rallies, which will continue until Oct. 13. Al Attiyah won the second special stage title today to lead the overall classifications. Al Attiyah and his French co-driver Matthieu Baumel aboard a Toyota Hilux, completed the stage with a total distance of 609.22 km, including 334.66 km subject to the timing, with a time of 3.45.16 hours, 6.01 minutes behind his nearest competitor, the Saudi driver Yazid Al Rajhi, accompanied by his British navigator Michael Oro on board the Toyota Hilux, and the second place holder, with a time of 3.51.17 hours. The Polish driver Jakob Przygonski, accompanied by German Timo Gottschalk in a Toyota Hilux, took third place with a time of 3.52.05 hours, while the French driver Matteo Serradori, accompanied by his navigator, Loic Menaude in a buggy Century CR6 car came in fourth place with a time of 3.55.32 hours, Argentine driver Lucio Alvarez, accompanied by his Spanish navigator Armand Monleon in a Toyota Hilux, came in the fifth place with a time of 4.01.16 hours. The participants are scheduled to run the third special stage on Monday which has a total distance of 604.60 km of which 341.81 km is subject to timing. Nasser Al Attiyah expressed his happiness at maintaining his lead of the Rally of Morocco after winning today the title of the difficult second stage which was characterized by hills and sand dunes in most of the tracks, as well as its difficulty in navigation.
