Sepahan wins IPL title to complete three-peat

ISFAHAN,May 12(MNA) – The Sepahan football team has won the Iran Professional League (IPL) title for third time in a row and the fourth time overall. Sepahan was held to a goalless draw by relegated Mes of Sarcheshmeh in Isfahan’s Fooladshahr Stadium on Friday. Traktorsazi finished in second place after beating Malavan 2-0 at Tabriz’s Yadegar Emam Stadium, one point adrift of Sepahan. Esteghlal defeated Naft 3-0 at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, finishing in third place on goal difference. Iran’s popular team Persepolis finished in 12th place after defeating Foolad 2-1 in an away match. Elsewhere, Mes beat Zob Ahan 2-0, Saipa was held to a 2-2 draw by Sanat Naft, Sepasi and Saba played out a goalless draw, Damash defeated Shahrdari 2-1, and Rah Ahan humiliated Shahin 4-1. Mes of Sarcheshmeh, Shahin, and Shahrdari were relegated to the first division while Aluminum Hormozgan, Paykan, and Gahar Zagros secured promotion to the IPL.
