Kerrith Brown, IMMAF President, Densign White, IMMAF CEO and Wissam Abi Nader, IMMAF Board Member, arrived on Saturday to participate in the press conference and officially announce the IMMAF's decision of Bahrain hosting to the World Championships of Amateur MMA.
White said in a statement: "I am very pleased to be in my second home, The Kingdom of Bahrain, to participate in the press conference to announce Bahrain will be host to the fourth edition of the World Championships of Amateur MMA. This decision is due the IMMAF's great confidence in Bahrain's ability to host this event, which is one of the most prominent championships organized by the IMMAF, and which will be held for the first time outside the United States and for the first time at the level of the Asian continent, specifically in the Middle East. "
He added: "We have seen great attention from the Bahraini officials to host this championship and we appreciate their keenness which clearly reflects their attention to MMA, through which Bahrain became an integral part of this sport after becoming a member in the IMMAF. Bahraini's international activity in this sport is remarkable through the efforts of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, with His Highness' never ending support to this sport locally and supporting Bahraini MMA in various participations and international championships, which clearly contributed to Bahrain achieving positive results and also strengthen its position in this global sport." Wissam Abi Nader, IMMAF Board Member, said: "The IMMAF took the decision after viewing the Kingdom of Bahrain’s portfolio, which was the most outstanding portfolio from the rest of the countries nominated for hosting, as Bahrain meets all of the requirements for hosting. I think that Bahrain is the best suited to host the first championship outside of Las Vegas, especially as it has a geographical location that is situated centrally globally and also as possesses the capabilities that will benefit of the success of this championship."
