Shaikh Khalid receives 70 athletes with disabilities

Manama, Oct. 25 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association, expressed his pride at the results and accomplishments achieved by the male and female athletes with disabilities. His Highness stressed that the athletes were able to overcome their disability through determination, strength and challenge, and succeeded in raising the name of the Kingdom. This came during a reception with 70 athletes with disabilities by HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa in his Majlis at Riffa. Present on the occasion were Mr. Abrulrahman Sadiq Askar, Assistant Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Youth & Sports and Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, Shaikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation (BDSF), all of the federation members and coaches. His Highness delivered greetings from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, stressing HM the King's keenness on providing support for people with disabilities by integrating them in all government and private sector areas, which showcased the keenness of His Majesty in giving unlimited support to his children. His Highness also delivered greetings from His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee. His Highness noted the efforts of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa in placing plans and programmes that translate the royal directives for the Youth and Sports sectors. His Highness further expressed his pride in the male and female athletes with disabilities as they were able to overcome all difficulties and prove their abilities. His Highness showed his happiness with players such as Fatima Abdulrazaq, who achieved a gold medal in the Rio Paralympics 35 category Shot Put competition, and Ruba Al Omairi, who achieved 7th position in the 55-category Disc Throw competition. His Highness commenting on the occasion said: "I am filled with joy when I see my brothers and sisters with disabilities and with these results you have surpassed many athletes. I am very happy with these results, and in all honesty and sincerity, Bahrain's leadership, government and people, is proud of our loyal sons. His Highness praised the efforts of the BDSF under the leadership of Shaikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa, and all members of the federation, in implementing development programs to strengthen this sport and contribute to raise the skills of the athletes to delivers high performances that raise the name of the Kingdom of Bahrain. His Highness also wished the federation all success.
