Shaikh Nasser greeted on Ironman victory

Manama, Oct. 24 (BNA): HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee President, was congratulated on winning the World Ironman Championship’s Executive Challenge Series held in Kona, Hawaii recently. During his meeting with BOC staff at a special reception ceremony held at the committee offices in Seef area, Shaikh Nasser highlighted the key contributions of the committee representatives in the development of sports in the country. He also noted the significant administrative role of the committee and its support to national sports federations in an attempt to provide best possible environment to fulfil their objectives and aspirations. The occasion was held in the presence of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports secretary general and BOC vice president Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, Supreme Council deputy secretary general and BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, and all THE board members. Addressing the attendees, Shaikh Nasser said the committee efforts is the cornerstone of all the athletic heroes’ achievements in the Kingdom, noting its role in building a fertile ground for all national teams, while providing financial and administrative support to the federations to overcome all the difficulties that stand in their way. On his part, Shaikh Salman congratulated Shaikh Nasser on his victory in Kona and expressed pride for such a historic achievement, which is an incentive to all Bahraini athletes to follow suit in their respective challenges to come. Late on, Shaikh Salman presented a commemorative gift to Shaikh Nasser, a note book with a special theme "Challenges Conqueror", featuring words written by all members of BOC staff to express their pleasure for the remarkable victory of His Highness at the World Ironman Championship. Shaikh Nasser also received a flower bouquet from Askar on this occasion.  This was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony and a t-shirt painted with Shaikh Nasser photo that was signed by His Highness.
