SIGA Web Summit on Female Leadership in Sport to Kick Off Tomorrow

Doha, March 07 (QNA) - SIGA Web Summit on Female Leadership in Sport will off Monday in coincidence with the International Women's Day, with the participation of nearly 90 international organizations alongside senior officials, executives and decision-makers from the various sectors of global sport. Over 70 high profile female executives and legendary athletes from a wide number of international organizations, such us the United Nations, B20, European Commission, sports organisations, including World Rugby, FIFA, Formula E, F1 W Series, US Lacrosse League, Major League Soccer, the English, French and Australian Football Associations, LPGA, ICC, NWSL, FIFPro, Saudi Sport for All Foundation and R&A, as well as several National Olympic Committees. The first-ever SIGA Web Summit on Female Leadership in Sport is a flagship thought leadership event designed to drive greater equality and opportunities for women in sport, as advocated by the SIGA Universal Standards on Good Governance in Sport. The three-day summit consists of 12 live webinars, two Special Sessions, digital workshops, and a series of keynote speeches from high profile industry leaders, including B20 Vice-President and Women Empowerment Ambassador Diana Bracco, Director General of the United Nations Office at Geneva Tatiana Valovaya, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education, Youth and Sport Mariya Gabriel, Managing Director of the Saudi Sports for All Federation Shaima Saleh Al Husseini, SIGA Chairman Franco Frattini, SIGA Vice Chairman Mohammed bin Hanzab, SIGA CEO Emanuel Macedo De Medeiros, amongst many others. Commenting on the occasion, SIGA Vice Chairman Mohammed bin Hanzab said that launching the new summit on the International Women's Day reflects the important role of SIGA in promoting the role of women in the sports sector, a role that started three years ago through a series of events and activities organized by the organization to highlight the file of women's leadership in the field of sport and emphasize the need to enshrine the principle of gender equality in the field of sport at all executive and leadership levels. Bin Hanzab believed that the necessity of empowering women to reach leadership positions in the sports field and the role of the Doha-based International Centre for Sport Security as a founding member of SIGA undoubtedly embody the role of Qatar and reflects its leadership in the field of women's empowerment.
