South Korea and Turkmenistan Take Wins in World Cup 2022 Qatar Qualifiers

Goyang, June 09 (QNA) - The South Korean national football team defeated Sri Lanka, 5-0, in the match that brought them together today in Goyang, South Korea, as part of Group H competitions in the second round of the joint Asian qualifiers for the World Cup Qatar 2022 and the Asian Cup China 2023. The second match in the same group today also witnessed Turkmenistan's victory over Lebanon (3-2). The South Korean team topped the group standings with 13 points after five matches, compared to 10 points for Lebanon, nine points from six matches for Turkmenistan and nothing for Sri Lanka, while the North Korean team withdrew due to the "Covid-19" pandemic. The last round of the group will be held next Sunday, with one match in which South Korea will meet Lebanon in a confrontation to decide top of the group. (QNA)
