Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy Secretary-General: Qatar's Hosting of World Cup is Legitimate Right

Doha, March 25 (QNA) - HE Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) Hassan Al Thawadi affirmed that Qatar's hosting of the 2022 World Cup is a legitimate right not only for Qatar but for all Arabs and people of the Middle East. In an exclusive interview with beIN Sports today, His Excellency said that the Arab world deserves to be in the spotlight, adding that Qatar has worked very hard to reach this stage and the world has seen its capabilities in the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup Qatar competitions as an Arab and Middle Eastern nation and country. In response to Dutch coach Louis van Gaal's criticism of Qatar's hosting of the 2022 World Cup, His Excellency stressed the State of Qatar's ability to host unparalleled major events, pointing out that these are testimonies given by many experts and followers, as well as many distinguished personalities in Europe, all of whom recognized Qatar's capabilities and readiness. HE Al Thawadi added that the Dutch coach did not spend enough time to understand what football represents, not only to Qatar but to the Arab world as a whole, and if he researched the influences of the 2021 Arab FIFA Cup Qatar and the huge passion of the Arab fans, and what football means to them, he would have known what this means that an Arab country will host this international football event.
