Swimmers bag 48 medals

Manama, Mar. 5 (BNA): Bahrain made yet another resounding impact at the 14th GCC Short Course Swimming Championship in Doha.
The nationals captured 48 medals in total at the three-day event, including 10 gold, 20 silver and 18 bronze amidst stiff competition with participants from other GCC countries.
Qatar's national team came out on top after winning 51 medals. They were followed by the UAE in second place overall with 42 medals, Bahrain third, Saudi Arabia fourth and Oman fifth.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar as well as Bahrain Swimming Association president Shaikh Mohammed bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa and other top sports officials welcomed the team on return.
In his statement, Askar congratulated members of the team on this achievement and conveyed the greetings Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and BOC President, and best wishes in future competitions.
Shaikh Mohammed commended the results of the Bahraini swimmers in this major regional swimming championship, and thanked BOC for playing a major part in preparing the team for the event.
