Table Tennis: Training Camp to Open in Qatar on Sidelines of WTT
Doha, March 03 (QNA) - Wednesday will see the opening of the advanced table tennis training camp in Ras Abu Aboud, on the sidelines of the World Table Tennis (WTT) its Middle-East Hub event organized by the Qatari association for the sport with the WTT at Lusail.
Attending the opening will be President of the Qatar and Arab Table Tennis Federations and the deputy president of the international and Asian federations Khalil Al Mohannadi, CEO of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Steve Dainton and other officials at the ITTF.
The training camp is the first to be sponsored by the WTT, and will see 80 players from different nationalities participate. Players in the camp will be divided into four groups of 20 as a precaution due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The camp will see the participation of the youngest player to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics, Syria's Hind Zaza.
Meanwhile, director of national teams and head of the competitions public relations Thani Al Zaraa expressed his delight at the quality of the WTT Middle-East hub organized in Doha. He said that the Qatari federation was praised by the ITTF for their organization.
He also noted that there was strong cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health, and strong adherence to the precautionary measures by all participants. All players are tested 72 hours prior to arrival, then once again at the airport. After that, they enter into the bubble with transport only from the hotel to the venue. (QNA)
