Tokyo Olympics 2020: Qatar's Beach Volleyball Team Falls to Russian Olympic Committee in Semi Final

Tokyo, August 05 (QNA) - The Qatari beach volleyball team lost in the semi-finals today to the Russian Olympic Committee team 0-2 (19-21 and 17-21), at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. On Saturday, Qatar will play the bronze medal match against Latvia, which fell earlier to Norway, in order to achieve a third medal after the gold medals of Faris Ibrahim in weightlifting and Moataz Barshim in high jump. The Qatari duo topped their group with the full mark with three victories, before eliminating Americans Philip Dauhauser and Nicolas Lusina from the round of 16, and Italy's Paolo Nicolai and Daniele Lobo from the quarter-finals. The first set came close between the two parties, as the difference did not exceed two points, and ended with a score of 21-19 in favor of Russia within 20 minutes. While the team consisting of Viacheslav Krasilnikov and Oleg Stoyanovsky was the best in the second and led by four points 10-6, and the two Qataris managed to reduce the difference, but the last word was given to the Russians. The Norwegian team, consisting of Berntsen Moll Anders and Christian Soram, defeated the Latvian team, consisting of Martins Plavins and Edgars Tokes (2-0), with a score of (21-15) and (21-16), to book his place in the final match that he will play on Saturday in the face of Russian Federation national football team.
