Turkey's Galatasaray sack Gheorge Hagi

ISTANBUL (A.A) - 25.03.2011 - Istanbul side Galatasaray fired Romanian coach Gheorge Hagi after 5 months in charge and a big disappointment in their league campaign, the club said on Friday.
In a statement posted on its internet site, Galatasaray said it parted ways also with assistant coach Bogdan Vintila and fitness coach Giovanni Melchiorre. The club thanked Hagi and his team for their work with the team.
It was Hagi's second term with Galatasaray. He first coached the team during the season of 2004-2005 and won the Turkey Cup title.
In October 2010, he started his second term with Galatasaray, replacing Dutch coach Frank Rijkaard who left the team in 9th place in 9 games.
Hagi's Galatasaray saw 9 defeats, 6 wins and 3 draws this season. Galatasaray are currently in 11th place in the 18-team Turkish first division.
Following Hagi's departure from the team, Galatasaray appointed Bulent Under as new coach. Under was an assistant to former Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim.
