U-17 Women's World Cup To Go Ahead As Planned After FIFA Lifts India Ban

By Shakir Husain NEW DELHI, Aug 27 (Bernama) -- FIFA has lifted the suspension that was imposed recently on the All India Football Federation (AIFF), enabling India to host the FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup 2022 later this year. It had suspended the AIFF on Aug 16, saying undue influence from third parties in the Indian body's affairs constituted a serious violation of the FIFA statutes. "The decision was taken after FIFA received confirmation that the mandate of the committee of administrators that was set up to assume the powers of the AIFF Executive Committee had been terminated and that the AIFF administration had regained full control of the AIFF’s daily affairs." FIFA said in a statement on Friday. "As a consequence, the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022 scheduled to take place from Oct 11-30, 2022 will be held in India as planned," it said. -- BERNAMA
