KUALA LUMPUR, June 16 (Bernama) -- The national women’s 4x100 metre quartet has bettered the event’s national record at the Thailand Open Track and Field Championships which ends at the Thammasat University Sports Complex, Pathum Thani Thursday. The quartet comprising Shereen Samson Vallabouy, Siti Fatimah Mohamad, S. Komalam Shally and Zaidatul Husniah Zulkifli recorded 45.19 seconds to erase the previous record of 45.32 seconds which was created at the 2016 Singapore Open Athletics Championship. The record in Singapore was achieved by Siti Fatimah, S. Komalam, Zaidatul Husniah and Nurul Faizah Asma Mazlan. Athletics chief coach, Zainal Abas, who was contacted by Bernama confirmed the matter. The success saw the national contingent garnering three overall gold medals at the championships which started on Saturday. For the record, Malaysia won two gold medals before this through Khairul Hafiz Jantan in the men’s 100 metres and Muhammad Ziyad Zolkefli in the shot-putt event. -- BERNAMA
