Wrestlers add medals for Mongolia
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ State Honored Sportswoman and Olympic bronze medalist S.Battsetseg has won a silver medal in the women’s 63 kg contest, another Mongolian T.Monkhtuya captured a bronze in the women’s 59 kg at the FILA Wrestling World Championship which is running in Budapest, Hungary.
Thus S.Battsetseg has become a twice medalist of the World Championships. A first meal--gold-- was grabbed at the 2010 FILA World Championship in the 59 kg contest.
During these events, S.Battsetseg beat opponents from Venezuela, USA, Italy and Russia. At the final round, she was defeated by three-time Olympic champion of Japan Kaori Icho who became thus eight-time World champion. They were followed by Yekaterina Larionova (Kazakhstan) and Elena Pirozhkova (USA).
With a bye in the first round, an international master of sports T.Monkhtuya beat a Polish in the first round, and was defeated by a Hungarian Sastin who later won a gold medal. In the repechage round, she beat wrestlers from Chinese Taipei and Japan, grabbing thus a second bronze medal in the FILA World Championships.
The same day, an international master of sports S.Byambatseren was beaten by Saori Yoshida, three-time Olympic champion and 11-time world champion from Japan, in the third round after she had defeated Chinese and Kazakh wrestlers.
By the fourth day of the competitions, our national team has been ranked the ninth thanks to two silver and two bronze medals.
