Young badminton competition kicks off

VIENTIANE,01.25.2012(KPL)- Lao-Viet Badminton Club organised the first badminton competition for young age under 10s, 12s, 14s and 16s categories to compete for the trophies of Minister of Education and Sports on 23-27 January. The event was competed by more than 120 young athletes from seven badminton clubs in Vientiane Capital including Lao-Viet, Skyline, KM5, Dongpalane, Tina, KT and Manolack. “There are seven categories to compete such as single and double teams, aimed at promoting sport playing among young instead of using drugs and giving them a chance to touch real competition event,” said Mr Khanthong Sipaserth, a member of badminton organising committee. He added that the event will also provide the young to get more experiences in the competition. The event is expected to be organised year-on-year. The winners for 10s, 12s, 14s and 16s categories will be awarded 500,000 and 600,000 kip with a trophy on each.
