Struggle for Implementing Resolutions of 8th Plenum of 8th C.C., WPK Intensified
Pyongyang, June 28 (KCNA) -- The educational field of the DPRK is deepening the discussions for the implementation of the resolutions of the 8th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK).
Discussed are the action programs for further improving the country's educational structure and educational contents and methods, building up the camp of teachers and bettering the educational conditions and environment.
Steps are taken to merge junior and senior middle schools in conformity with regional features for increasing the number of schools giving education according to the students' aptitude and individuality and to set up technical senior middle schools and technical classes in areas with distinct economic and geographical features and other areas.
Proactive discussions on the issue of renovating the structure of higher education are under way.
The focus of discussion is on the issues for further perfecting the system of training talented persons and turning major universities into those of research type.
Also, discussed are the ways for improving all the school courses such as further perfecting the second universal 12-year compulsory education program and raising all the educational levels through the unification of all courses.
And under discussion are the plans for improving the teaching methods so that students can acquire practical knowledge and ability through active study and research.
Dealt with are the matters arising in building up the ranks of teachers qualitatively and raising their qualifications and abilities and bettering the working and living conditions for teachers. -0-
