TAI Exhibits Top Notch Military Technologies, Forges International Cooperation At IDEF’23

ISTANBUL, July 28 (Bernama) -- Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) made a strong presence at the 16th International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF’23) here, exhibiting its top notch military hardware including the T-925 Multirole Utility Helicopter which made its debut at the biennial event.
Expected to make its maiden flight next year, the T-925 is designed with large cabin area and a ramp door that can be configured for civilian passengers and military personnel, and used as air ambulance or to ferry VIPs.
TAI’s Chief Executive Officer Prof Temel Kotil who was reported saying the T-925 is the big sister of its Gokbey helicopter, which can carry 20 people and has a weight capacity of 10 tonnes.
“The T-925 helicopter will be in the inventory in 2026,” he said.
The details of TAI’s Autonomous Wing Flight (OKU) project was also unveiled at the four-day fair. The new project will enable the company to sync the operating systems of Turkiye’s fifth generation combat aircraft KAAN and ANKA 3 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
The state-owned company also showcased a ground control station that is compliant with NATO standards, capable of operating multiple UAV systems simultaneously, and can be produced as fixed or mobile, depending on requirements.
Also showcased at the events were ANKA drone, advanced jet trainer and light attack aircraft HURJET, advanced trainer and mission aircraft HURKUS, GOKBEY helicopter, Cargo UAV, space systems, and KAAN Turkish Fighter simulator experience area.
The static part of the fair also hosted ATAK 2 helicopter and AKSUNGUR drone.
TAI also inked 13 agreements and contracts with its international partners at IDEF’23.
These include a contract with Malaysia's G7 Aerospace Sdn Bhd over industrial collaboration programme of three ANKA drones purchased by the Malaysian government.
BERNAMA, along with other seven media organisations from Malaysia and Indonesia, was invited to the biennial event by TAI.
Ranked as the world's fourth largest global defence show, IDEF’23 is held from July 25 to 28, and displayed land vehicles, weapons, simulators, radars, sonars, naval platform solutions, aviation systems, missiles, logistic vehicles, supply equipment, and security systems.
According to the Turkish National Defence Ministry, around 200 delegations, including 96 high-profile delegations as well as 650 domestic and 850 foreign companies, are attending the event.
