Tashkent International Tourism Fair to Promote Tourism Products, Foster Business Links
KUALA LUMPUR, July 31 (Bernama) -- Uzbekistan’s capital city of Tashkent is gearing up to host the 28th Tashkent International Tourism Fair, "Tourism on the Silk Road" (TITF-2023), from November 15 to 17.
Organised by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the State Unitary Enterprise "National PR-Centre," and the company "Team & Co Group," this major event promises to be a platform for promoting tourism products, fostering international business contacts, and facilitating cooperation in the tourism industry.
According to a statement from Uzbekistan’s embassy in Malaysia, the prestigious event will be held at the National Exhibition Complex "UzExpoCentre," a venue that has consistently hosted the fair over the years.
The business segment of TITF-2023 will feature an international forum with experts in the tourism field.
Additionally, participants can look forward to engaging in productive Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings, informative roundtable discussions, exhibitions showcasing tourist services and handicrafts, and presentations highlighting the tourist potential of various regions in Uzbekistan.
Cultural attractions will also be part of the programme, including a fashion show featuring international and national designers, and a delightful ‘gastrobazaar’ to be hosted by domestic and international chefs.
The statement pointed out that TITF-2023 will offer immense value to a diverse range of stakeholders, including employees from leading travel and transport companies, major hotel chains, diplomats, educational institutions specialising in tourism, and representatives of Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism.
In 2022, TITF made a grand return after a two-year pause, marked by first-time shift to a public-private partnership model without the need for government funds. The successful event attracted more than 11,000 visitors and featured representatives from 300 companies. On top of that, 7,000 contracts were signed during the three-day fair, solidifying its status as an essential driver of growth in the international tourism sector.
According to the statement, the tourism fair also enjoys significant support from the state, with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev chairing two government meetings in Sept. 2022 and March 2023, dedicated to boosting domestic and inbound tourism potential.
With historical gems like Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, Shahrisabz, and Tashkent, Uzbekistan has strengthened its appeal to foreign travellers by investing in modern tourism infrastructure and hospitality facilities.
Recent developments, such as the state-of-the-art terminal at Samarkand International Airport and the "Silk Road Samarkand" international tourist complex, have been pivotal in elevating the country's tourism standing.
The statement further mentioned that the country has introduced simple visa procedures for foreign tourists. Today, travellers from more than 90 countries enjoy visa-free regime.

With the support of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), TITF has been a significant annual fixture in the global tourism calendar since its inception in 1995, the statement further said.
