AIMST University Proud Medal Winner for Three Innovative Products
SUNGAI PETANI (Kedah), June 6 (Bernama) -- The Asian Institute of Medicine, Science and Technology (AIMST) University won a gold medal and two silver medals for three inventions submitted by its Faculty of Allied Health Professions research team at two innovation competitions recently.
AIMST University deputy vice-chancellor, Prof Dr K. Marimuthu said the Bowel Aid: Solution for Mesh Surgery Complications invented by Dr Yu Chye Wah and Dr Chew Heng Hai was awarded the gold medal at the International Invention, Innovation and Design 2017 Competition held in the state of Johor on March 9.
"The two silver medals were awarded for the Ezy Inflatable Bedpan With Biodegradable Disposal Bag which was created by Siti Zaharah Ahmad, Dr Yu and Dr S. Kathiresan and the Phrenic Trainer: Solution for Post-Surgery Lung Complications also by Dr Yu,” he said.
The silver medals were won at the International Invention and Innovation Technology Exhibition 2017 Competition held in Kuala Lumpur from May 11 to 13.
”This is a proud achievement and I hope to see more researchers working on innovative products which could benefit the community,” he told reporters after attending the World Environment Day celebration at AIMST University campus in Semeling, here, Monday.
On another development, he said AIMST University was offering three new programmes, namely the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Bioinformatics, Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Internal Auditing and Management, and doctoral degree (PhD) in Medical Microbiology.
He said the August/September 2017 intake for the new programmes was now open for registration.
