Arianespace Offers A Ticket Into Space To A Startup Or Lab

SINGAPORE, April 14 (Bernama) -- Any takers? Arianespace is launching a contest for satellite projects by space technology startups, labs or universities and the first prize winner will get a free launch of their satellite on a rideshare mission. In a statement issued here Wednesday, the European launch services company said the contest is organised in conjunction with the Viva Technology 2021 (VivaTech) innovation show in June. Participating teams will try to convince the members of the Arianespace jury by presenting the potential applications of their entry. Projects will be judged on their ability to improve life on Earth or advance human knowledge. Other selection criteria include the satellite design, which has to be compatible with a rideshare mission, and eco-responsibility, it said. Participants have until May 14 to submit their projects. Arianespace will choose five finalists, with the winner to be announced at the award ceremony on June 16, 2021 during the opening day of VivaTech. -- BERNAMA
