HYDROELECTRIC STATION TO BE ERECTED AT KHOVD RIVER

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A project of a hydroelectric dam construction in western Mongolia is to be financed by the Turkish Government. The hydroelectric station is planned to be erected near Bugat soum, some twenty km north of Hovd province center, where the flow is the most intense. The Turkish officials estimate that the station will produce 56 megawatt. At a meeting with the local administration, a director of the Turkish ZTM Co, Mr Muslim Gunduz said the Government of Mongolia fully backs this 40 million USD project that is nowadays at the stage of the feasibility study development. The hydroelectric power station is expected to come into service in 2018, to be operational for some 200 years. The Turkish part is planning to hand over the maintenance of the station to the local government after twenty years of operating. At this big construction project, the Mongolian part has been represented by electric engineer B.Baatar and coordinator T.Nurbek.
