Iran To Launch Fajr Satellite Soon : Official

Tehran, July 21, IRNA – Head of Iran’s astronomy organization Hamid Fazeli announced that Iran will launch its Fajr satellite soon. He explained that the delay in launching the satellite was due to carrying out more technical tests on the project. The satellite was due to be launched in June 2012. Once the tests prove to be successful, he said, the satellite will be placed in earth orbit. A university professor involved in the project Fathollah Ommi had already noted that the Fajr satellite is different from the previous ones engineered by Iran in that it uses micro-motors for orbit changes. The Fajr satellite is completely designed and engineered by Iranian experts and lasts in operational stage for over 18 months./end
