Khalid bin Hamad: We will continue our supportive efforts to promote education

Manama, Apr. 7 (BNA): Under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), the closing ceremony of the 3rd Khalid bin Hamad Competition for Innovation in Artificial Intelligence Competition was held on April 6. Organised by Bahrain Polytechnic University in collaboration with HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Media Office, the Information & eGovernment Authority, Microsoft and Almoayyed Computers Middle East, the competition was sponsored by Ahli United Bank (Platinum), Bahrain National Gas Company (Silver) and Ithmar Bank (Silver). Among the supporters of the competition were Bahrain FinTech Bay and ThinkSmart. On this occasion, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa said: "Holding this prestigious competition comes in line with our desire to implement the instructions of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to promote education in Bahrain through inspiring our youth's innovation and creativity as well as support their efforts in serving our society. “Our aim is to lend a helping hand to them and encourage their talents so they can be contributors to the programmes introduced by the government under the leadership of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince Prime Minister, to deliver Bahrain Economic Vision 2030. HH Shaikh Khalid added: "We are happy to see the extraordinary participation in the 3rd edition despite the ongoing exceptional circumstances because of the coronavirus (COVID-19). We will continue supporting the educational outcomes in the Kingdom in order to enable the next generations to benefit from advanced learning techniques and promote their capabilities." Furthermore, HH Shaikh Khalid thanked Bahrain Polytechnic University, Microsoft and Almoayed Computers Middle East for their contributions towards making the event a huge success. He also congratulated the winners, wishing the rest of the participants the best of luck in the upcoming editions. HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa honoured the winners during the closing ceremony. He also toured the winning projects in various fields and was briefed by the participants about their projects. For his part, Shaikh Ali bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Acting CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic University, President of the High Organising Committee, expressed utmost thanks and appreciation to HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for supporting the University, stressing the importance of artificial intelligence. He revealed that the participation in the 3rd edition bettered the previous editions by 43%, while the number of the submitted projects increased by 23% compared to the first and second editions.
