Malaysia's Pahang State To Lead The Biotechnology Industry

KUANTAN (Pahang, Malaysia), Oct 5 (Bernama) -- Pahang has the potential to become the leading state in biotechnology with the construction of the technology Park in Gambang, here. State Rural Development, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry committee chairman Shafik Fauzan Sharif said Pahang was now in a positive situation to be the leader in the field of biodiversity with substantial sources available in the state. "Pahang is a biotechnological centre. It offers excellent opportunities for the study and cataloging of a variety of flora and fauna," he said. He said this when opening the Agro Food and Biotechnology Festival (FAMB) 2016 national-level at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Polytechnic, here Tuesday. Shafik Fauzan said the state government had also identified the focus of biotechnology industry, which included agro-biotechnology, healthcare, industrial and herbal. FAMB 2016 is a two-day festival, which began Tuesday aimed at providing exposure to the public on the progress of technology and innovation in agriculture, food technology and biotechnology that can be used by all parties. -- BERNAMA
