Telecommunications Minister participates in ITU summit

Manama, Mar. 15 (BNA): Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi participated virtually in the World Summit on the Information Society 2023 hosted by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in cooperation with the UNESCO program and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The minister praised the ITU's role in bringing together many experts, specialists and stakeholders in the telecommunications and information sector to discuss common topics.
He affirmed Bahrain's support for the summit's initiatives through the development of legislation and infrastructure for the telecommunications sector, in accordance with the Digital Economy Sector Strategy (2022-2026).
The minister stressed the Kingdom’s achievements in the communications and information technology sector and its continuous endeavor to encourage digital economy through developing the infrastructure of the communications sector.
He highlighting the Bahrain's success in activating 5G technologies and providing high quality coverage for all residents.
The minister affirmed the Kingdom's efforts to work with all partners in various countries to ensure the achievement of a safe digital transformation that provides an opportunity to reach a better lifestyle for individuals and societies and to exchange ideas and experiences between various organizations.
