Thailand's Narathiwat Police Foils An Attempt To Smuggle Drugs In Tak Bai

NARATHIWAT (Thailand), July 18 (Bernama) -- Narathiwat police foiled an attempt to smuggle 104 kilogrammes (kg) of crystal methamphetamine in Tak Bai district.

Authorities carried out a raid at about 3 pm (local time) on July 15 and, according to Narathiwat authorities Chief Maj Gen Anuruth Imarb, discovered 104 parcels in a boat's hidden compartment.

"Further examination revealed that crystal methamphetamine was included in every parcel.

He stated at a news conference that the drugs are believed to be trafficked into Malaysia and are estimated to be worth 62 million baht based on black market pricing.

He added that the police are stepping up their search for four narcotics traffickers who fled the raid.
