Luang Prabang the first to host PGA Tour

VIENTIANE,17.02.2012 (KPL) -UNESCO’s world heritage Luang Prabang will be the first province in the Lao PDR to host professional golf tournament ASEAN PGA Tour between 26 and 29 April at Luang Prabang Golf Club. CEO, Luang Prabang Golf Club, Mr Gang Pil Lee, said that PGA Tour competition will be a historic landmark of the golf competition in the Lao PDR and promote the uniquely peaceful and beautiful landscapes of Luang Prabang. “The Luang Prabang Lao Open is the first championship golf tournament in Laos, which reflects the great cooperation between the government and the private sector. We have joined together to promote Luang Prabang and also to help develop the golf industry in Laos to a world class level,” Luang Prabang Governor Khampheng Saysompheng was quoted in ASEAN PGA Tour website. Luang Prabang Golf Club is a new world-class venue located in Luang Prabang. It is only a 15-minute drive from the town centre and Luang Prabang International Airport. 2012 marks the sixth season of the ASEAN PGA Tour, which was inaugurated in 2007 to provide more playing opportunities for golfers in the South East Asian. Last year Wisut Artjanawat of Thailand took the lion’s share of the trophies on the ASEAN PGA Tour. The talented golfer won the Order of Merit title winnings of US$24,001 and was voted the Player of the Year by his peers.
