KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 25 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation (MHDC) through 5,091 entrepreneurs has achieved sales valued at RM418.1 million (US$94.11 million) up to October this year. Malaysia's Tourism and Culture Minister Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz (second, left) said the MHDC was targeting RM500 million (US$112.55 million) this year. "The industry has provided employment to 10,416 workers. The development of the industry has an economic spillover to other sectors such as services, transportation and supply," he said when officiating the Kuala Lumpur International Craft Festival (KLICF 2016) here, Thursday night. Nazri said KLICF 2016, apart from promoting handicraft, can also be used as a platform for local and foreign entrepreneurs to explore the international market for their products. Organised for the second year, KLICF started today and will last for four days at the Craft Complex in Jalan Conlay here. The festival sees the participation of 450 craft entrepreneurs from 27 countries including Argentina, the Czech Republic and Mexico as well as Malaysian entrepreneurs (photoBERNAMA). --BERNAMA
