Turkey and Afghanistan sign agreement on air transportation
ANKARA (A.A) - 29.03.2011 - Turkey and Afghanistan have signed a new agreement on air transportation in an effort to update the relevant legal infrastructure in line with the circumstances of the present day.
On behalf of Turkey and Afghanistan, senior officials from the Turkish and Afghan transportation ministries put their signatures on the agreement which would introduce a series of regulations on flight destinations and flight frequency, a written statement from Turkey's Civil Aviation Authority said on Tuesday.
The deal would enable numerous Turkish and Afghan airline companies to conduct scheduled flights between the two countries, the statement noted.
According to the agreement, airline companies determined by both countries will operate 28 passenger and limitless cargo flights to 7 destinations in each country every week.
Turkish air carriers will fly to Afghan cities of Kabul, Kandahar, Mazar-i Sharif, Herat and three more destinations to be determined.
In addition to the agreement on air transportation, Turkey and Afghanistan have also signed a memorandum of understanding on technical cooperation in the field of aviation.
