Turkey expects Europe's support in counter-terrorism, Turkey's EU minister says

ISTANBUL (A.A) - August 18, 2011 - Turkey's EU minister said on Thursday that Turkey expected support of its European countries regarding combating terrorism.
After a meeting in Istanbul, EU Minister and Chief Negotiator for EU talks Egemen Bagis told reporters that EU was a project of peace and Turkey was eager to get included in the project. When Turkey was exerting efforts to join the EU, it was also working to boost democracy, human rights and standards of living in the country, he said.
"We expect EU member countries to extend more assistance to us regarding fight against terrorism. EU cannot remain indifferent to terror problem in Turkey. It is an issue of all of us," he said.
Bagis said that Europe should support Turkey especially in fight against financing of terrorism.
"No one can stop democratization process in Turkey. We will keep working to make the country more transparent and modern," he added.
