Turkey to host fourth meeting of Libya Contact Group

ROME (A.A) - 05.05.2011 - The 4th meeting of Libya Contact Group will be held in Turkey.
Prime Minister & Foreign Minister Hamad bin Jasim bin Jabir Al Thani of Qatar, Foreign Minister Franco Frattini of Italy and Foreign Minister Abdallah bin Zayid Al Nuhayyan of the United Arab Emirates held a joint news conference at the end of the second meeting of the group in Rome.
Al Nuhayyan said that they decided to hold the third meeting in the United Arab Emirates and the fourth in Turkey.
Meanwhile, Frattini told a news conference that Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu called for a cease-fire in Libya within seven days.
"The United Nations has confirmed its objective for a cease-fire as soon as possible, and Turkey's Foreign Minister Davutoglu has suggested the target. Minister Davutoglu spoke of a very ambitious objective, a cease-fire within seven days," Frattini said.
The Contact Group including the United States, European powers, allies from the Middle East and international bodies, was established during an international conference in London in March to lead international efforts to map out Libya's future. The group held its first meeting in Qatar.
