Turkey's aid to be distributed to Somali people
MOGADISHU (A.A) - August 9, 2011 - Turkey's humanitarian aid will be distributed to Somali people who have faced a severe shortage of food and water.
Two cargo planes of the Turkish Airlines carrying aid sent by the Red Crescent, the Directorate of Religious Affairs and the Turkish International Cooperation & Development Agency (TIKA) landed at Mogadishu Airport on Monday night.
Somali officials and Red Crescent authorities have begun loading the aid to trucks to distribute it to camps in Mogadishu later on Tuesday.
The 50-ton aid includes foodstuffs, baby formula, sanitary stuff and medicine that will meet urgent needs of 1,500 families.
