Turkey's dairy production increases

ANKARA (A.A) - 14.02.2011 - Amount of milk collected from dairy farms increased to 6.74 million tons in Turkey in 2010, country's statistical authority, Turkstat, said on Monday.  
More than 1 million tons of the collected milk were marketed while 473,057 tons were used in cheese production, 908,269 tons in yogurt production and 397,935 tons in production of ayran, a yogurt-based beverage. 
In December 2010, amount of collected milk from farms was 544,004 tons with an increase of 8.1 percent over the amount of collected milk in November 2010. 98,118 tons of total amount of collected milk were marketed for drinking while 37,958 tons were processed as cheese. Yogurt production increased to 75,437 tons and ayran production was 32,982 tons.
