Turkey's Halkbank to acquire major stake of Macedonian bank
ISTANBUL (A.A) Feb 11 – Turkey's Halkbank was about to acquire major stake in Macedonia's IK Bank, Director General Huseyin Aydin said on Friday.
Halkbank Director General Aydin held a press conference on the bank's financial figures in 2010 and expectations for 2011 in Istanbul.
The bank posted a net profit of 2 billion Turkish lira in 2010, he noted.
Aydin said that Halkbank rose number of its employees to 13,450 in 2010 from 12,505 in 2009 and number of its branches to 705 in 2010 from 665 in 2009.
Replying to a question on the bank's objectives in Macedonia, Aydin said, "we will work with small and medium scale enterprises and individuals in Macedonia. We will carry our human resources and experiences to Macedonia. We will be one of the leading banks there."
