Turkey's high rate of quitting smoking never seen in any other country

ESKISEHIR (A.A) – September 24, 2011 – The rate of people, who quit smoking in Turkey, is higher than any other country in the world.
Turkish Health Ministry official Seraceddin Com told A.A on Saturday that 2.2 million people quit smoking in Turkey in the last two years.
Also, 400,000 people applied to hospitals in the last eight months to quit smoking, he added.
The ban on smoking in closed areas and anti-smoking campaigns, which began in Turkey in 2009, have resulted in a drop in the rate of cigarette consumption.
Com said that people supported the ban and the anti-smoking campaigns across the country, adding that such rate of quitting smoking had never seen in any country in the world.
