Turkish Industry minister: new investments to be made in the sector



ANKARA (A.A) - 30.01.2011 - Turkish Industry & Trade Minister Nihat Ergun said that new investments would be made in Turkish automotive sector.
Speaking to private Kanal 24 channel on Sunday, Ergun said that Turkish industry had been in a great rise in recent years, adding that Turkey was assertive especially in automotive, textile, ready-made-clothing, iron-steel, construction and contracting sectors.
Recalling that many foreign automotive companies had investments in Turkey, Ergun said that Toyota and Hyundai were planning to increase their productions in Turkey in the next period.
Toyota and Hyundai, which are producing nearly 100,000 vehicles in Turkey, are planning to increase this figure to 250,000, he said.
Also, Ford is planning to make an additional production with a new investment worth of 650 million USD in its facilities in Golcuk, he added.
Noting that Renault had some activities to make new investments too, Ergun said that Turkey was becoming one of the most important automobile production centers.
