Turkish industry minister says Nestle's investment is important
ISTANBUL (A.A) - 24.03.2011 - Turkish industry minister said on Thursday that Nestle's new investment worth 85 million Turkish lira in Turkey was an important one.
Industry and Trade Minister Nihat Ergun delivered a speech at a meeting on Nestle's factory under construction in Karacabey, Bursa.
Ergun said Nestle's factory on breakfast cereals would provide job opportunities for 160 people at the first phase and 85 million TL investment of Nestle showed its confidence in economic stability in Turkey.
Ergun said that Turkey attracted 92 billion U.S. dollars of foreign investment between 2003 and 2010, which was a great success.
Nestle, one of the most established companies in Turkey, entered the Turkish market in 1909. After opening its first sales office in Karakoy, Nestle opened Turkey's first chocolate factory in Ferikoy in 1927. In the following years, Nestle continued to "break new ground" with the new categories it created within the food industry and to be the pioneer of innovations.
Nestle offers more than 400 high-quality products with approximately 40 brands in 11 different business units.
During its time in Turkey, Nestle has continued to contribute to the country's economy and to the well-being of Turkish people through the employment it creates, its investments and its social responsibility activities. Working with its partners to provide job opportunities for more than 5,000 employees in Turkey, Nestle celebrated its 100th year in Turkey in 2009.
